There is something special about helping teens realize their dreams, meeting expectations and sometimes even surpassing their dreams. As I walked around to capture the moments for the Prom Dress Project, it became personal for me. “What school do you go to?” “Is that your favorite color?” “What is your name?” “Will you come out and let me take a picture of you in your dress?” I was transformed from photographer to parent, teacher, supporter, friend….. “You look really nice.. that is such a pretty color on you… how are you going to wear your hair…those earrings are perfect”. One young lady, in particular, yelled out “Miss Delorass.. you going to put my picture on Facebook?” My daughter smiled and shook her head thinking (I could read her mind).. Girl, you will be up there before you can even get home, if you only knew. I had to giggle inside.
Helping them pick out beautiful prom dresses, style with accessories, receive delicious princess cake and a goodie bag was the mission, of the team, for the girls. What we gained was a warm feeling in our hearts seeing these young ladies morphed into all that they wanted to be for their prom.
