So it was time to get away. Much has happened this year and we were all in need of a break. Convincing ourselves that this was the right time was more than a notion. Current circumstances made the decision more difficult but we trudged on and took the plunge. If you sit around waiting on life to be perfect before you move you will not move. We are better off for it and will remember it always. The Summer Vacation of 2011.
The kids enjoyed endless hours of rest (who sleeps till 12 at the beach?), the lazy river that goes around and around..so relaxing, countless trips to the water park, digging in the sand, salty fries and cheeseburgers overlooking the water. Kai added the warm cheesy goo to hers and I thought she had died and gone to heaven. Her smile was priceless. Biko tried to dig to China in the sand and was pleased when people started hopping in the holes with both feet snapping their latest facebook pictures (the simplicity of it all was heartwarming). Nash tried, off and on, to be/get sick but was able to ward off the cold with countless hours of endless internet access.. in a room with a TV and books (downloaded as a result of me feeling sorry for her).
No car rides, no telephones, no e-mail, no photo shoots, no work or worries, no meals to plan, groceries, dishes, house cleaning, did I say no car rides?.
Just us, together… taking in the warmth of the summer days and the coolness of the evening sky filled with stars and the constant misty smell of salt in the air. Slipping away, the two of us, for a few romantic dinners and moonlight walks I admit was what I imagined this vacation to be for us and was not disappointed. I’d say, we landed on an Island that should have been called Family Perfection.
Just like before, I took my baby camera and captured a few that seem rather special to me. Happy Friday Everyone!
This is where we sat all day!
