It just may go down in history as one of the greatest love stories of all times. And so here is just a snippet of their love story as it was told to me by Denise… Derek and Denise are high school sweethearts, engaged last May and getting married in October 2011 in Baltimore. Because they’ve been together for so long they’ve amassed a lot of family and friends so the wedding promises to be an extra special event for everyone. “It’s really going to be something”, Denise said. The wedding will also be an event of a lifetime for Derek and Denise and their loved ones because this June Derek and Denise will celebrate the 3 year Anniversary of their kidney transplant surgery. You see, Denise was diagnosed with kidney failure a little over 4 years ago and Derek gave her a kidney – “a gift of life”. A year later he asked her to marry him. It was just a pleasure to document this couples love. Denise suggested we go to Hains Point in Washington because that is where Derek proposed to her. We started out there at sunrise and made our way around the monument area for some great photos and lots of fun. Denise has a laugh that is contagious and Derek a demeanor that is composed yet fun. When he looks at her he smiles deeply and you feel the love that encompasses the gaze. When she looks at him she laughs and you can tell there are moments between them, not publicly shared, that make her giggle. I am so looking forward to capturing their wedding for them this October. I’m preparing myself for a very special day in their lives and I’m incredibly honored they chose me.
