So I had to get the calculator out and figure put the numbers in. 2011-1989= 22. 22 years… wow! It has been 22 years since we were married. Please don’t smirk when I say it really feels like yesterday. It does!
The air was cool and crisp. I did not eat much because I was nervous. So many of his family had traveled from out of town and had been spending the preceding days getting to know our side of the family. Rehearsal dinner= back yard cook out. Some of my bridesmaids and some of his groomsmen trying not to fall for each other. Really? I did my hair and drove myself to the church. I was then surrounded by friends and family who helped me dress. I received a purple velvet box from Eric, carefully handed to me by our ring-bearer . I still remember opening the box and seeing pearls. My mother put them on me and I was ready to walk down the aisle. The rest was a blur until that night when we went to the hotel and were literally starving. We jetted past our Bridesmaids and Groomsmen in the hotel lobby and went upstairs and laughed the night away eating strawberries and chocolate…dark chocolate. The next morning EARLY 5:00am we made our way to the airport and were whisked away to Barbados.. I’ll never forget any of this and all the people who were there to share in our celebration. Jillian and Trevor, whom we met on the beach in Barbados, remain our very good friends to this day.
Thank you my love for it all. It goes without saying how much I love you. There is nothing that I would change about the past 22 years.. NOTHING, because our Love is a precious thing and you need only look in my eyes to see it revealed. Happy Anniversary!
Picture is from Phyl and Williams wedding 4 years later. I was with pregnant with Kai at the time and did not know it. See the glow?
