True story… I was on a shoot and the girls went with me. A senior shoot and the client was a friend of theirs… cool, no-big-deal. I look around and being the photographer I am, with teenagers whom refuse to pose for their momma.. EVER, recognize this moment in time that will last forever. right? Well, that’s what you’d think. I shot a few frames then shouted to the girls (30 feet away) to hug. They protested, I begged. I told them that soon one will be off to college and they will have this moment recorded to prove they really did love each other.. right? OK.. a hug, how hard can that be? Well, I suppose it’s too hard because this is what happened.. so close to the water. I stopped shooting…. froze…waited for someone to catapult the other into the water. They laughed and realized it was not the moment in time I was hoping to capture. Or was it? It is what it is.. They love each other, I’m confident. One day they will hug each other and won’t want to let go. Hopefully, my friends, I’ll be there to capture it!!! But for now, I’ll take what I can get and be all the more grateful for it… whatever it is! = meeting them where they are! I love you guys!
This is so awesome Delores. I feel you on trying to get family to take a picture. My dog Honey is my best model. She never complains! I continue to love your work.
